  • After a five-match homestand, the Canisius volleyball team begins a stretch this weekend with seven of its next nine games away from the Koessler Athletic Center.
  • Canisius enters the weekend with a 4-3 record in conference play, sitting in a three-way tie for fourth place in the MAAC standings.
  • Canisius and Fairfield split the regular-season series last season, with each team winning at home. The Griffs last won at Alumni Hall during the 2010 season.
  • Canisius and Quinnipiac are meeting for the first time as league opponents and for the first time since 2006. The Griffs have won all three previous meetings between the schools.
  • Canisius leads the MAAC at 2.30 blocks per set. The Griffs have 45 blocks in the last four matches.
  • Senior Roxanne Hernandez is second in the MAAC in blocks per set (1.21). Hernandez set a career high with 12 blocks against Iona on Oct. 5, becoming the third Golden Griffin in the last 10 years to have 12 blocks in a match.
  • Junior Emily Litwin ranks third in the MAAC in digs per set (4.65) and has double-digit digs in 17 of 18 matches.
  • Sophomore Rachel Kline had 25 kills last weekend, including a career-high 15 kills against Manhattan. Kline posted her first career double-double in the win over Iona.
  • Freshman Katlyn Tyler is averaging 3.33 digs per set in the last four matches, including a career-high 21 digs in the win over Iona.
  • Senior Emily Elek had 40 kills in three matches last week, including at least 13 kills in each match.
  • Sophomore Lauren Siebert ranks eighth in the MAAC in attack percentage (.242).


  • Fairfield enters Saturday's match with a 6-11 overall record and 4-3 record in conference play. The Stags defeated Marist in five sets on Wednesday night when coach Alija Pittinger recorded her 100th career win.
  • Marilyn Peizer leads the team at 2.65 kills per set while Hayley Moyer ranks fourth in the MAAC in attack percentage (.295).
  • Quinnipiac starts the weekend with a 4-14 overall record and 2-4 record in the MAAC. The Bobcats have won two of their last three matches, defeating Rider and Saint Peter's in four sets last weekend.
  • Allison Leigh leads the MAAC in blocks per set (1.24) and also leads Quinnipiac at 2.04 kills per set.
