DI Series History: Canisius leads, 18-14-4

After taking 5-of-6 points in three-consecutive home games, Canisius hits the road to face Army this weekend. The two schools are set to meet on Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Saturday's game can also be seen live on Time Warner SportsChannel.

• Canisius is 3-3-1 in Atlantic Hockey play after taking 3-of-4 points against Connecticut last weekend.
• Seniors Ben Danford and Kyle Gibbons each lead the Griffs with 10 points this season. Danford has also registered a team-best eight assists, while Gibbons has netted a team-best six goals.
• Senior Tony Capobianco has started eight games in net with a 3.24 goals against average and .909 save percentage.

• After a slow start to his senior campaign, Tony Capobianco has found his record-breaking form from a year ago.
• In his last four games, Capobianco owns a 1.72 gaa and .945 save percentage after posting marks of 4.79 and .879 in the first four games of the season.
• Overall, Capobianco owns a 3.24 gaa and .909 save percentage after posting a 2.40 gaa and .929 save percentage last season.

• Junior Braeden Rigney capped his recent strong play with a highlight goal and was honored by the NCAA.
• Rigney netted his first career game-winning goal last Friday, scoring on a 1-on-3. His goal was named the top play of the week by the NCAA.
• Overall, Rigney has five points (2g, 3a) in the last six contests after posting 11 points in his first 57 career games.

• Senior Kyle Gibbons is closing in on his second milestone of the year.
• After becoming the eighth Griff in the program’s DI history to record his 100th career point, Gibbons is now just two goals shy of 50.
• The senior would become just the third player in the program’s Division I history to reach the total and the 17th Griff overall.

• In 43 all-time meetings between the two schools, Canisius holds a slight advantage in the series, 20-19-4. The Griffs are also 18-14-4 against the Black Knights in the program’s Division I history.
• Last season, the two schools split a pair of games in Buffalo with Canisius earning a 5-1 victory in the opener before Army rallied for a 1-0 overtime win in the finale.
• In the Griffs’ last trip to West Point, Canisius earned its first-ever sweep at Tate Rink, posting 4-2 and 2-1 victories.
• Overall, the home team has had the more positive results since the programs began playing at the Division I level, going 22-10-4. Canisius is just 5-9-2 all-time at Army.

• Army is 2-10-0 on the season and 2-7-0 in Atlantic Hockey play. The Black Knights are currently in last place in the league standings with four points.
• The team is coming off a win in its most recent contest, posting a 4-3 overtime victory against AIC on Nov. 26.
• Shane Hearn leads the Black Knights with seven points on two goals and five assists. C.J. Reuschlein is right behind with six points, including a team-best five goals.
• Rob Tadazak has started 11-of-12 games in goal, posting a 4.76 goals against average and .867 save percentage.
