Junior Connor Panas has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
In four Canisius wins last week, Panas hit .417 with seven RBI, as all five of his hits went for extra bases – two doubles, two triples and a walk-off home run. The junior third baseman hit a two-run homer to right field to give Canisius a 12-11 win over Buffalo. Panas recorded at least one hit and one RBI in each game while scoring a run in three of the four games. Panas also had two walks to go along with a 1.167 slugging percentage.
Panas gives Canisius its fifth weekly award from the conference office this season. Junior Rohn Pierce is a two-time MAAC Pitcher of the Week while senior Jimmy Luppens has been named the MAAC Player of the Week twice.
Canisius (14-7), riding a four-game winning streak, continues its eight-game homestand against the University at Buffalo, with first pitch this afternoon set for 3 p.m.
