Canisius College golfers Drew Creighton, Ryan Lydon (right) and Dirk Roth were named to the 2008 MAAC All-Academic Team, the conference office announced last weekend. Canisius is one of four schools in the nine-member league to have three or more student-athletes honored for their work in the classroom.

Creighton has a 3.66 grade point average as a biology major and is making his first appearance on the conference’s top academic unit. On the course, Creighton finished tied for seventh at the 2008 MAAC Championship, making him the second Canisius individual in the last 10 years to post a top-10 score at the conference’s final event. Lydon holds a 3.62 grade point average in biology, while Roth boasts a 3.34 grade point average as a criminal justice major.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
