Senior Mike Goemans went the distance, facing two over the minimum during the final seven innings, and the Canisius offense scored in six of nine innings to bounce back with a 12-4 win at Lipscomb on Saturday. Canisius improves to 7-3 on the season.

Senior Paul Panik was 2-for-3 with his third home run of the season and drove in three RBI. Junior Steve McQuail had a game-high three hits while junior Brian Burton was 1-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Goemans allowed eight hits, four runs and two walks while getting 14 groundball outs.

Canisius scored one in the first on a sacrifice fly from senior Ian Choy and answered in the top of the second with two runs of its own. Freshman Aaron Barley brought a run home when he reached on an error and Josh Lewyckyj had an RBI single to put Canisius ahead 3-2.

The Griffs tied the game in the fourth when Panik led off the inning with a solo homer to left field. Canisius took the lead for good with a two-run fifth, starting when Sean Jamieson led off with a walk and moved to second on a single from Choy. A single by McQuail loaded the bases while Burton drew a bases-loaded walk to force home Jamieson. Panik then had a sacrifice fly to put Canisius up 6-4. The Griffs added their seventh run of the day in the sixth inning when Lewyckyj led off with a single, moved to second on a passed ball, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly from Jamieson.

Canisius broke the game open with a five-run ninth, sending 11 batters to the plate. Jamieson led off with a single to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. Panik, Jarred Flock and Perry Silverman each had RBI singles in the inning as Canisius took advantage of the third Lipscomb error of the day, three walks and a wild pitch.

Canisius and Lipscomb conclude the three-game series on Sunday, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. Redshirt freshman Billy Martin is the probable starter for the Griffs.
