Senior midfielder Morgan Leonard and sophomore attacker Tori Quinn of the Canisius College women’s lacrosse team both earned regional All-America accolades on Tuesday after being selected to the All-West/Midwest Region Second Team.

The duo are the third and fourth Griffs to earn all-region honors in the program’s history, joining Allison Daley in 2011 and Megan Oosting in 2012. It also marks the first time that Canisius has had multiple players selected to the team in the same season.

The 2013 MAAC Midfielder of the Year and a unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First Team, Leonard has recorded 68 points on a team-best 56 goals and 12 assists. She also ranks first on the team with 58 ground balls and 45 caused turnovers, while placing second with 42 draw controls.

Leonard currently ranks second in the country with 3.22 ground balls per game, third with 2.50 caused turnovers per game and 12th with 3.11 goals per game. She also collected MAAC All-Tournament Team honors this season after helping the Griffs to their third-straight conference title. She led the team with 10 points in the two wins, totaling seven goals and three assists.

The Sykesville, Md. native has made her mark in just two seasons at Canisius. Leonard currently ranks 10th in the program’s history with 107 career points, eighth with 85 career goals and sixth with 85 career caused turnovers. She was also named the 2012 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, while collecting first-team all-conference honors and MAAC Tournament MVP accolades last season.

The 2013 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, Quinn earned the regional All-America accolades after posting a team-best 74 points during the 2013 campaign. The sophomore has scored 45 goals to go along with a team-best 29 assists and her 74 points are currently just four shy of the school’s single-season record.

A native of Orangeville, Ontario, Quinn enters the week ranked 17th nationally with her 74 points. She also places first in the MAAC with 4.11 points per game, second with 1.61 assists per game and third with 3.50 goals per game.

In just her second season at Canisius, Quinn has totaled 99 career points on 65 goals and 39 assists. She is just one point shy of becoming the 11th player in school history with 100 career points and currently ranks seventh in the program’s record book with her 34 career assists.

Leonard and Quinn helped the Griffs become the first school in conference history to win three-straight MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Championships this past weekend. Canisius now turns its attention toward the NCAA Tournament where the Griffs open at No. 7 Penn State on Friday at 4 p.m.
