Former Canisius College men’s basketball player Frank Turner recently signed a professional contract to join Fos Quest Provence Basket of the France-ProB League. Turner, who graduated from Canisius in 2010, just closed out his third professional season overseas where he played for Trefl Sopot in the Polish TBL.
Last season, the 25-year old guard from Atlantic City, N.J., averaged 13.4 points, 5.3 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game for Trefl Sopot and helped the team win the league’s SuperCup. He also played in the 2013 EuroCup where he was good for 12.3 points, 5.7 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game in six contests. Prior to joining the Trefl Sopot squad, Turner played for Eiffel Towers Den Bosch in the Dutch League. There he played in 41 games and was named to the Eurobasket.com All-Dutch Eredivisie Second-Team after he scored 12.7 points per game while leading the league with 4.6 assists per outing. He was also named to the league’s all-star game in his time with Eiffel Towers Den Bosch.
Turner ended his career as a Golden Griffin ranked fourth in career scoring with 1,769 career points, and his 616 career assists is tops in program history. He was honored as an All-MAAC selection two times in his career and he was named the MAAC’s Co-Rookie of the Year after his rookie campaign in 2006-07.
